Seismic retrofit of masonry structures

Seismic improvement works in extremely vulnerable historical masonry structures by means of internal reinforced plastering

Seismic upgrades using internal reinforced plasters are an effective solution for extremely vulnerable structures in historic masonry. This technique involves the application of a composite system consisting of a pre-formed mesh inserted in a structural mortar compatible with the existing masonry. The reinforced plaster thus created significantly increases the load-bearing capacity and shear strength of the walls, improving the overall behaviour of the building in the event of an earthquake.

A key advantage of this approach is its compatibility with historical-architectural values, as the intervention is minimally invasive and reversible, and the internal application preserves the building's exterior appearance, a crucial aspect for structures of historical value.
